Glasgow City remain top of the Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League after a 6-0 demolition of Stirling University.

A win earlier in the day by Hibernian had moved their Edinburgh rivals to the top spot, but City moved back on top of the leader board thanks to a double from Abbi Grant and goals from Hayley Lauder, Donna Paterson, Nicola Docherty and Leanne Ross.

For Captain Ross, it was her 250th career goal for the club, in only 296 starts, a quite incredible feat for Scotland’s most decorated player in domestic football.

Commenting, City boss Scott Booth said, “I am really happy with the attitude and commitment of all the players today. We kept our tempo high throughout the match and continually created chances. We scored some excellent goals and it was a well deserved three points. For Leanne, it was another incredible personal milestone. She is a great player, a great leader and despite playing her latter years in defence, still an incredible goal scorer. She deserves all the plaudits rightfully coming her way.”

The international break means City are not back in action until 17th June when they face a tough Scottish Cup second round away tie against fellow SWPL 1 side Forfar.
