Scott Booth extends his Glasgow City contract

July 3, 2017

Glasgow City are delighted to announce that Head Coach Scott Booth has signed a two year extension with the club.

Booth first joined City in July 2015 and has enjoyed great success lifting the Scottish Cup, along with most importantly the two league titles which took City to a Scottish record breaking ten titles in a row.

Commenting, Booth said, “I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to coach at Glasgow City for another two seasons. It’s such a fantastic individual club with extremely talented and loyal players. The staff are unbelievably dedicated and the volunteers who work so selflessly in the background help keep us at the forefront of the women’s football in Europe. We have plenty of challenges ahead but I know we are all working together to achieve even greater things at Glasgow City.”

Club Manager Laura Montgomery said, “If I am honest, I have been amazed at how quickly Scott got to grips with the women’s game when he first joined. His commitment has been second to none and his experience at playing at the very highest level has certainly not been lost on the players. Since he has come in, we have lost some of our biggest stars with the likes of Denise O’Sullivan going to Houston Dash, Fiona Brown to Eskilstuna and Erin Cuthbert to Chelsea. Sadly that is life in Scotland due to our financial limits, but Scott has dealt with this really well and considering every season is almost like a new squad rebuild with as many as 7 players departing for example last pre-season, it takes a lot of work to continue to be at the top and challenging for the big honours, which we do.

“He ensures we have a winning mentality running throughout the team and has built an extremely talented and tight knit backroom staff, who push the players to be at their best. Stability is key for us and I am thrilled he has agreed to remain at the club until at least 2019.”
