Glasgow City moved safely through to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after a 4-0 win over Stirling University.
Only 7 days after defeating the same opponents at the same ground in the League, City left with a place in the last four of the Scottish Cup thanks to a strong second half performance.
Going into the break 0-0, City upped the tempo in the second period and Hayley Lauder put the away side ahead finishing off a Leanne Ross cross after an excelled ball from Erin Cuthbert had released Ross down the right.
Haley Rosen then netted a double, firstly turning home a Clare Shine shot which had come back off the post, before converting a Nicola Docherty cross for her second and her side’s third of the game. Sarah Crilly added a fourth and her 10th of the season soon after to give City a safe passage through to the next round.
Commenting, Head Coach, Scott Booth said, “We were delighted at the way the girls approached today’s match. We were mentally focused and despite a good Stirling Uni first half, our team kept going at them and fully deserved the result.”
City’s defence of the trophy continues on Sunday 16th October at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh when they take on Glasgow Girls in the semi-final.
