International News

There is a lot of international activity over the next couple of weeks, with no fewer than 18 Glasgow City players involved.

For the senior national team, Scotland continue preparations for Euro 2017 by taking on Norway in a friendly on the 17th September at Firhill Stadium, Motherwell, 7pm kick off. It will be the first match in charge for Norway's new Head Coach Roger Finjord after replacing Even Pellerud last month.

Five days after the Norway challenge match, Anna Signeul and her squad take on Slovenia in their first European Qualifier in Nogometni Stadion, Ajdovscina, Slovenia. Glasgow City players Jo Love, Hayley Lauder, Leanne Ross have been selected for both matches and we wish Scotland the very best of luck as they aim to qualify for a major tournament for the very first time.

City's Irish contingent Denise O'Sullivan and Clare Shine have both been selected for the Republic of Ireland squad for their upcoming Euro qualifier against Finland which will take place on Monday, 21st September at the Tallaght Stadium in Dublin. Like Scotland, Ireland are hoping to make it to their first senior national finals.

At youth level,  Glasgow City's Carla Boyce, Sarah Clelland, Erin Cuthbert, Georgie Rafferty and Courtney Whyte are all away to Austria with the Scotland Under 19 national team this week.

The girls are taking part in their qualifying group this week as they aim to reach the UEFA Women's Under 19 Championships in 2016. Over the course of the seven days, Scotland will face the Ukraine (Tuesday - won 2-1), Albania (Thursday) and the hosts, Austria (Sunday).
