In conjunction with European Sports Media (ESM), UEFA has announced its short list for UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe Award.
The shortlist, compiled from the nominations of the 8 coaches from the UEFA Women's Champions League Quarter Finals and the 8 coaches from the European teams participating in the Women's World Cup is, in alphabetical order - Nadine Angerer (GER – Portland Thorns FC); Ramona Bachmann (SUI – FC Rosengård); Verónica Boquete (ESP – 1. FFC Frankfurt, now FC Bayern München); Amandine Henry (FRA – Olympique Lyonnais); Simone Laudehr (GER – 1. FFC Frankfurt); Eugénie Le Sommer (FRA – Olympique Lyonnais); Wendie Renard (FRA – Olympique Lyonnais); Dzsenifer Marozsán (GER – 1. The jury for the second round of voting is selected by ESM and will be composed of 18 journalists committed to supporting women’s football, with the final three nominees scheduled to be revealed onWednesday, 12 August 2015. The same jury will then cast their votes live during the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on 28 August, with an electronic system used to determine the outright winner.
Glasgow City Club Manager, Laura Montgomery, who has supported the game via freelance journalism for the past 16 years, is the selected Scottish nominee for ESM and will cast her vote with the other 17 journalists next month.
It comes as little surprise that last year's winner Nadine Kessler has not made the short-list after an injury ravaged season this campaign.
