Fiona Brown wins SWPL Player of the Month for May

The Player of the Month Award for the Month of May, as voted by coaches, players and staff associated by all clubs has been won by Glasgow City’s Fiona Brown. The City forward has been crowned The Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month and made a terrific start to the 2015 season scoring crucial goals for her club, playing in the Champions League Quarter-Finals and featuring in Anna Signeul’s National A-Squad.  After picking up a knee injury towards the end of May against France and successfully coming through her operation Brown is aiming to make a return to playing in 2016. Brown commented on winning the award; “It’s really nice to be recognised if you are playing well, especially by other teams and players. I felt I had a very good start to 2015, scoring some important goals in May, two in particular in Glasgow City’s 3-3 draw against league rivals Hibernian.”

“Scoring more goals was something that I wanted to add to my game this year and it was one of my main aims, so to score big goals in big games and get recognised for that makes the award really special. Winning this award is very important to me as it will spur me on with my recovery in coming back from my injury and hopefully my game will get recognised again next season.”
